The Latin Fury! Song Spotlight Series takes a closer look at the songs that are part of the show.
This song spotlight is on "Bamboléo” – also featured on the Latin Fury! EP, “Morado”.
Originally released in 1987, “Bamboléo“ is one of the signature songs of the Gipsy Kings, who adopted portions of the tune from “Caballo Viejo”, a 1980 song from Grammy Award winner Simon Diaz.
The boundless energy of “Bamboléo“ has made its way into other versions by the likes of Celia Cruz and Julio Iglesias, while also crossing over into a wide range of other media like the TV series “Glee”, “The Peanuts Movie”, and the Nintendo Wii video game Samba de Amigo.
The cultural flavour and crowd-pleasing energy of this song has made it a welcome inclusion for Latin Fury! are our live shows. We hope you enjoy it as much as we love performing it.
With that in mind, here is “Bamboléo” from the Latin Fury! PBS Special.
